Chief Civil Estimator – Shape the Next Generation of Civil Projects

Location: Brisbane, QLD
Discipline: Civil Infrastructure | Roads | Rail | Mining | Bulk Earthworks

Lead the Front End of Major Infrastructure Delivery

Now is the perfect time to position yourself with one of Queensland’s leading civil contractors — a business known for delivering complex, high-value infrastructure and investing in the people who make it happen.

We’re seeking an accomplished Chief Civil Estimator to lead major tender pursuits across the civil, mining, and transport infrastructure sectors.
If you’re ready to take ownership of high-impact bids, guide an experienced estimating team, and influence commercial strategy from the front end, this is your opportunity.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Executive Pre-Contracts Manager, you’ll oversee all estimating activities across a portfolio of projects typically ranging from $25M to $100M+.
This is a strategic leadership role focused on first-principles estimating, competitive positioning, and mentoring the next generation of estimators.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Developing detailed, accurate first-principles cost estimates for complex civil projects.

  • Driving the tendering process from concept through submission, ensuring compliance and competitiveness.

  • Identifying and evaluating risks, opportunities, and commercial advantages in every bid.

  • Leading and developing a team of estimators, fostering capability and consistency.

  • Engaging with clients, designers, and internal stakeholders to align technical, financial, and strategic objectives.

  • Representing the business confidently in tender reviews, presentations, and pre-contract negotiations.

Key Projects

You’ll contribute to a diverse portfolio including:

  • Mining infrastructure and bulk earthworks

  • Road and rail projects for TMR, ARTC, and local councils

  • Structural and concrete works across major civil programs

About You

You’re an experienced civil estimator who thrives on technical challenge and commercial strategy. You bring both leadership and precision — capable of inspiring teams and producing tenders that win.

You’ll have:

  • 15+ years’ civil estimating experience, ideally across transport, mining, and infrastructure.

  • Proven capability in first-principles estimating and cost modelling.

  • Strong Expert Estimator experience (or similar software such as Candy, Benchmark, or CCS).

  • Background with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor, with a track record of competitive tendering.

  • Strong networks across subcontractor and supplier markets in QLD and NSW.

  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to present at client and internal review forums.

  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Quantity Surveying preferred.

  • Prior site-based experience as an engineer or project manager (advantageous but not essential).

Leadership Qualities That Set You Apart

  • Attention to Detail with Strategic Vision: You see both the micro and macro — ensuring precision in every estimate while understanding how each bid fits the broader commercial and delivery picture.

  • Culture Builder: You foster a team environment built on trust, accountability, and collaboration — where people feel supported and motivated to deliver their best work.

  • Empowering Leadership: You lead from the front, mentor with intention, and bring out the strengths of those around you through clarity, consistency, and respect.

  • Composure Under Pressure: You remain calm, focused, and decisive in high-stakes tender environments — bringing structure and confidence to the process from start to finish.

Why Apply

Join a contractor that’s growing rapidly and investing in its future.
You’ll enjoy:

  • Autonomy and influence in shaping tendering strategy and outcomes.

  • A collaborative, well-supported estimating environment with established systems and people.

  • Attractive remuneration, genuine career progression, and exposure to iconic QLD projects.

This business values innovation, integrity, and inclusion — and recognises that great projects start with great people.

Senior Submissions Coordinator – Build the Bids that Shape Queensland

Every winning project starts with a story — one that captures imagination, demonstrates capability, and earns trust.
In this role, you’ll be the person who helps tell that story.

About the Opportunity

As a Senior Submissions Coordinator, you’ll be at the center of how this respected civil contractor secures major infrastructure projects across Queensland.
From regional transport corridors and flood recovery works to large-scale mining and resource infrastructure, your words, coordination, and influence will help turn complex engineering solutions into compelling, client-ready submissions.

This is a role where creative clarity meets commercial precision. You’ll plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality EOIs, tenders, and proposals that don’t just tick boxes — they stand out for their strategy, structure, and storytelling.

You’ll work alongside bid managers, engineers, estimators, and project leaders who care deeply about quality and teamwork — people who value accuracy, integrity, and the drive to win.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Coordinate and manage end-to-end submission processes for EOIs, tenders, and capability documents across transport, mining, and civil infrastructure sectors.
  • Analyse client requirements, extract key win themes, and ensure submissions are sharp, compliant, and tailored.
  • Write, edit, and polish persuasive technical content — methodologies, project case studies, team CVs, and executive summaries.
  • Partner with subject matter experts to translate complex technical detail into engaging, outcome-driven narratives.
  • Manage multiple deadlines, facilitate workshops, and maintain content libraries and templates that make future bids even stronger.
  • Support preparation of presentations and materials for client interviews and tender workshops.

You’ll be the calm in the chaos — the one who brings direction, coordination, and a touch of creativity to high-stakes deliverables.

About You

You’ve got that rare blend of structure and story — part project coordinator, part writer, part strategist.
You’re confident working with engineers and leaders, managing tight timeframes, and finding the right words to make complex ideas clear.

You’ll bring:

  • Proven experience in a submissions, proposals, or bid coordination role — ideally within civil construction, engineering, or infrastructure.
  • The ability to write and edit with precision, clarity, and purpose.
  • Strong organisational skills and the confidence to coordinate multiple moving parts.
  • A proactive mindset and the professionalism to engage at all levels.
  • A genuine sense of pride in the work you produce and its impact on winning real projects.
  • Experience with Canva / Hubspot

Why This Role Matters

The projects you’ll help win aren’t just numbers on a spreadsheet — they’re the roads, bridges, and regional connections that keep Queensland moving.
You’ll join a collaborative, down-to-earth team that backs its people, celebrates wins, and invests in growth. Mentoring is built in, and success is shared.

Here, you’re not just submitting bids.
You’re helping build legacies — one story at a time.
