Your Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in 1st principles estimating

Formal qualifications in civil engineering are preferred, and previous experience as an engineer on-site would be advantageous.

  • Ensuring all tenders are of current field production rates

  • Contributing to pre-contract negotiations
  • Utilising current market conditions and knowledge of pricing, industry trends and changes to produce accurate tenders consistent with the market spread of the process

Our client is seeking the expertise of an experienced Senior Project Engineer with civil & bridge construction experience to work on a key RMS road upgrade in Newcastle. This civil contractor is a successful mid-tier. Our client is looking for previous roads, bridge works, and infrastructure experience to work on a key transport project with full-time employment offered.

You will be reporting to the Project Manager/Area Manager and will be managing and controlling all aspects of the project, including H&S, Commercial and contractual Aspects, overall programming of the works, and management of the delivery team to meet project objectives. The ability to ensure program delivery within the required period and budget is essential. Strong financial management experience is a must in establishing and maintaining contractual schedules, including productivity units and EOT’s. This role will allow you to step up to the Project Manager level.

Contractual Management: Manages, documents and communicates the obligations and rights under the Head contract while ensuring that processes are implemented to identify, control, mitigate and report significant risks and opportunities. Manage, develop, negotiate and control subcontractor and supply agreements.

Health, Safety, Environment & Quality Management: Leads the project to achieve exemplary safety outcomes and ensures project HSEQ objectives are set, shared and adhered to with the objective of creating an exemplary safety culture.

Financial Management: Understand the critical financial expectations that the project needs to deliver in revenue, profit and effective cost control. Implement disciplines and capability at all levels to ensure that these are met. Company reporting systems and financial tools need to be utilized at the project level for financial reporting protocol and timelines. Projects are monitored and reviewed with actions taken to ensure project targets are optimized.

The successful candidate will bring to the role:

  • Ensure Program delivery within the required timeframe and budget

Senior Estimator | Structural, Mechanical and Piping

  • $170-190K base + super

As the Estimator, you will develop cost estimates and programs for our major projects team with access to projects across Australia. To excel in this role, you will need a demonstrated background as an Estimator, specialising in Structural, Mechanical, and Piping. Ideally, Having a degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, a related discipline, or equivalent experience in Quantity Surveying would be best. Experience in the Construction, Infrastructure, or Utilities sector and clear and concise communication skills are desirable. Knowledge of Expert Estimation and proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project, are also preferred.

  • Assist in preparing documentation related to the program, project delivery and any related phasing diagrams for clients.
  • Ongoing client liaison and business development.

Requirements:

  • Degree or Diploma qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline or equivalent demonstrated experience (Quantity Surveying).
  • Demonstrated experience in the Construction, Infrastructure or Utilities sector.
  • Clear and concise communication skills.
  • Experience with Expert Estimation (preferred).

Empower Management is partnering with another successful civil contractor. They have recently secured further works in the Blue Mountains region starting in November ‘23. The company is responsible for developing and delivering various RMS packages across Sydney and NSW. Due to its continued growth, they are seeking 2 experienced Civil Project Engineers with a proven track record in delivering RMS projects ranging from $20m to $70m. You will have a proven background in road & bridge construction projects covering earthworks, pavements and structures, drainage & services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Ensure Program/project delivery within the required time frame and budget
  • Provide and ensure system documentation approvals
  • Ensure & manage procurement schedule and documentation
  • Ensure program conflict resolution
  • Provide advice on constructability during planning and construction works
  • Ensure that design reviews are delivered in a timeous & cost-efficient manner
  • Manage the subcontractors and ensure the correct tracking of completed contract works, tracking variations on completed works, and issuing reports.
  • Approve design changes to achieve program delivery
  • Manage younger engineers and provide support & guidance

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Formal qualifications in civil engineering
  • Minimum 1+ year RMS road construction experience
  • Must have a minimum 4 years of road construction experience with a civil contractor
  • Must have proven knowledge of RMS specifications
  • Previous experience on highway or major road projects in NSW is ideal
  • Must have worked for Tier 1 or tier 2 level contractor
  • Strong programming, Forecasting, planning and financial control experience, essential
  • Must have worked for a prominent road contractor
