Lead the Front End of Major Infrastructure Delivery

Now is the perfect time to position yourself with one of Queensland’s leading award-winning civil contractors — a business known for delivering complex, high-value infrastructure and investing in the people who make it happen.

We’re seeking an accomplished Senior/Lead Civil Estimator to lead major tender pursuits across the civil, mining, and transport infrastructure sectors. This role suits an estimator who wants ownership of high-impact bids, influence across pre-contract strategy, and a genuine opportunity to step into a Lead Estimator/Chief Civil Estimator capacity as the business continues to grow.

About the Role

Reporting to the Pre-Contracts Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in estimating delivery across a portfolio of projects typically ranging from $30M to $150M+.

This is a senior front-end role focused on first-principles estimating, competitive positioning, stakeholder alignment, and supporting the development of estimating capability across the team.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Developing detailed, accurate first-principles cost estimates for complex civil projects.
  • Driving the tendering process from concept through submission, ensuring compliance and competitiveness.
  • Identifying and evaluating risks, opportunities, and commercial advantages in every bid.
  • Supporting and mentoring estimators, helping build consistency, capability, and best practice.
  • Engaging with clients, designers, and internal stakeholders to align technical, financial, and strategic objectives.
  • Contributing confidently to tender reviews, presentations, and pre-contract discussions.

Key Projects

You’ll contribute to a diverse portfolio including:

  • Mining infrastructure and bulk earthworks
  • Roads / Highways and rail projects for TMR, ARTC, and local councils
  • Structural and concrete works across major civil programs

About You

You’re an experienced senior civil estimator who thrives on technical challenge and commercial strategy. You bring strong estimating fundamentals, a sharp eye for detail, and the maturity to influence outcomes in high-pressure tender environments.

You’ll have:

  • 10–15+ years civil estimating experience, ideally across transport, mining, and infrastructure.
  • Proven capability in first-principles estimating and cost modelling.
  • Strong Expert Estimator experience (or similar software such as Candy, Benchmark, or CCS).
  • Background with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor, with a track record of competitive tendering.
  • Strong networks across subcontractor and supplier markets in QLD and NSW.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence, contributing to internal review forums.
  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Quantity Surveying is preferred.
  • Prior site-based experience as an engineer or project manager (advantageous but not essential).

What Sets You Apart

  • Detail with Commercial Insight: You deliver accurate estimates while understanding what makes bids competitive.
  • Influence & Collaboration: You work effectively across ops, engineering, planning and commercial teams to shape winning submissions.
  • Leadership Potential: You naturally guide and support others and are ready to step into broader leadership when the opportunity presents.
  • Composure Under Pressure: You stay calm, structured, and decisive during high-stakes tenders and tight deadlines.

Why Apply

Join a contractor that’s growing rapidly and investing in its future. You’ll enjoy:

  • Real influence across tender strategy and outcomes.
  • A collaborative, well-supported pre-contracts environment with established systems and people.
  • Attractive remuneration, genuine career progression, and exposure to iconic QLD projects.

Bid Writer / Submissions Coordinator | Civil Engineering

Craft the story that wins the work.

Behind every successful civil project is a submission that inspires confidence — one that showcases capability, tells a compelling story, and positions a contractor as the partner of choice. In this role, you’ll be the voice that brings projects to life on paper.

Join a high-growth civil contractor with a strong pipeline of secured work and an outstanding reputation for delivering quality outcomes across SEQ. Your writing, coordination, and influence will directly shape the projects this business wins next.

Salary: $120K–$150K base + super
Growth: Genuine career progression — they develop and promote from within
Culture: A values-driven business that lives its values (not just prints them in a glossy brochure)

If you’re a natural storyteller with a sharp eye for detail and a passion for civil engineering, this is your opportunity to play a pivotal role in securing projects that shape communities, infrastructure, and the way SEQ grows.

About the Opportunity

As a Submissions Coordinator / Bid Writer, you’ll sit at the centre of how this respected civil contractor secures major infrastructure projects across Queensland and New South Wales. From major highways, rail and transport, to mining, Defence and regional civil works — your words and coordination will turn complex engineering solutions into compelling, client-ready submissions.

This role blends creative clarity with commercial precision. You’ll plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality EOIs, tenders, and proposals that don’t just tick boxes — they stand out for their strategy, structure, and storytelling. You’ll collaborate closely with the Estimating Manager, Bid Managers, Engineers, and Project Leaders who are invested in quality, integrity, and winning the right work.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead and coordinate end-to-end submissions for EOIs, tenders, and capability documents across transport, mining, and civil infrastructure
• Analyse client requirements, extract win themes, and ensure submissions are sharp, compliant, and tailored
• Write, edit, and refine persuasive content — methodologies, case studies, CVs, executive summaries,
project schedules, and supporting material
• Partner with
teams to translate complex technical detail into engaging, outcome-led narratives
• Manage deadlines, facilitate workshops, and maintain content libraries/templates to
strengthen future bids
• Support preparation of pitch decks, presentations, and client-interview materials
• Work with senior leaders to refine messaging, value propositions, and key storytelling elements
• Projects typically range from
$40M – $500M

You’ll be the calm in the chaos — bringing structure, clarity, and creativity to high-stakes deliverables.

About You

You bring that rare blend of structure and story — part coordinator, part writer, part strategist. You enjoy working with engineers, senior leaders, and technical minds, and you know how to articulate complex ideas in a clear, engaging, and compelling manner.

You’ll bring:
• Experience in submissions, proposals, or bid coordination — ideally in civil construction, engineering, or infrastructure
• Strong writing and editing skills with a focus on clarity, accuracy, and persuasion
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple moving parts and stakeholders
• A proactive, professional mindset and confidence to work at all levels of the business
• Pride of ownership — you care about the impact of your work and the quality of every submission

Why This Role Matters

The projects you help win won’t just sit on a tender dashboard — they become the roads, bridges, regional infrastructure, and community assets that keep Queensland moving.

You’ll join a collaborative, down-to-earth team that backs its people, celebrates wins, and invests in growth. Mentoring is embedded, development is real, and success is shared.

Here, you’re not just submitting bids — you’re helping build legacies, one story at a time.

With a reputation as the partner of choice for high-spec infrastructure—from bridges and substations to wind farms, dam spillways, FRP works and mine expansions—this business continues to expand nationally and is now seeking a Senior Civil/Structures Estimator to join its Brisbane office on a permanent basis.

This is a front-facing estimating role where technical depth meets commercial sharpness. You’ll take ownership of first principles estimating across reinforced concrete and civil works, shaping accurate, competitive tenders that win work and build long-term client confidence.

Project exposure:

You’ll work across a diverse pipeline, including:
Bridge structures, wind farms, tailings dams, substations, spillways, pipelines, and water storage projects, plus specialist scopes such as FRP works and complex expansions/upgrades.

Leadership pathway (important)

This role is a clear pathway into leadership (e.g., Lead Estimator / Estimating Manager / Pre-Contracts leadership). As such, you must be comfortable with client-facing work—participating in tender presentations, clarification meetings, and commercial discussions—and bring strong commercial aptitude to support win strategies and margin discipline.

What we’re looking for

  • Strong experience estimating civil and structural concrete works (first principles preferred)

  • Advanced capability in Expert Estimator and strong Excel-based cost build-ups

  • Ability to translate drawings and methodology into accurate, defendable pricing

  • Commercial acumen: scope clarity, risk/opportunity thinking, and value-led decision making

  • Clear communicator, confident, engaging internal stakeholders and external clients

  • Leadership mindset: mentoring, lifting standards, and improving estimating systems
