Senior Civil / Structures Estimator (Expert Estimator)

Behind some of Australia’s most technically challenging civil and concrete packages is a contractor built on capability, consistency, and confidence. With a reputation as the partner of choice for high-spec infrastructure—from bridges and substations to wind farms, dam spillways, FRP works and mine expansions—this business continues to expand nationally and is now seeking a Senior Civil/Structures Estimator to join its Brisbane office on a permanent basis.

This is a front-facing estimating role where technical depth meets commercial sharpness. You’ll take ownership of first principles estimating across reinforced concrete and civil works, shaping accurate, competitive tenders that win work and build long-term client confidence.

The role:

Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and the Pre-Contracts team, your focus will be to bring structure, strategy, and discipline to every submission. You will:

• Lead first principles estimates for complex civil and structural concrete packages

• Interpret complex drawings/specifications and complete take-offs/BOQs

• Assess methodology, staging, temporary works, access, and constructability impacts

• Identify tender risks, opportunities, and value-engineering options

• Engage and manage subcontractor/supplier pricing, scope alignment, and clarifications

• Ensure pricing reflects real-world delivery, productivity, and margin requirements

• Support tender strategy, adjudications, and handover into project delivery teams

Project exposure:

You’ll work across a diverse pipeline, including:
Bridge structures, wind farms, tailings dams, substations, spillways, pipelines, and water storage projects, plus specialist scopes such as FRP works and complex expansions/upgrades.

Leadership pathway (important)

This role is a clear pathway into leadership (e.g., Lead Estimator / Estimating Manager / Pre-Contracts leadership). As such, you must be comfortable with client-facing work—participating in tender presentations, clarification meetings, and commercial discussions—and bring strong commercial aptitude to support win strategies and margin discipline.

What we’re looking for

• Strong experience estimating civil and structural concrete works (first principles preferred)

• Advanced capability in Expert Estimator and strong Excel-based cost build-ups

• Ability to translate drawings and methodology into accurate, defendable pricing

• Commercial acumen: scope clarity, risk/opportunity thinking, and value-led decision making

• Clear communicator, confident, engaging internal stakeholders and external clients

• Leadership mindset: mentoring, lifting standards, and improving estimating systems
