Job Description

QLD Business Development Manager | Civil Construction

Brisbane | Executive-Level Influence | Project Opportunity & Market Strategy

This is not a traditional sales or account management role.

We are partnering exclusively with a respected Queensland civil contractor to appoint a Business Development Manager who understands how civil projects are actually won — long before the tender lands.

This role is built for someone with genuine contractor-side or client-side civil construction experience who can build relationships, identify opportunities early, and help shape where the business competes.

You might currently be a:

• Civil Project Manager
• Construction Manager
• Civil Manager
• Pre-Contracts Manager
• Client-side Development Manager
• Commercial or Operations Leader

If you’ve built credibility across Queensland’s civil market and enjoy influencing opportunities at the front end of projects — this could be your next move.

About the Business

Our client is a well-established Brisbane civil contractor delivering work across:

• Land development & subdivisions
• Roadworks (TMR / Council)
• Bulk earthworks
• Civil infrastructure
• Concrete structures

With strong delivery capability already in place, they are now investing in strengthening project pipeline, market engagement and strategic growth.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the executive team, you will play a key role in identifying and converting quality project opportunities across Queensland.

You’ll work closely with delivery and estimating teams to decide:

• Which projects align with capability and margin
• Where to invest pursuit effort
• Which opportunities to pursue or walk away from
• How projects should be positioned before tender

This is a market-facing role — but grounded in technical and commercial construction knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and strengthen relationships across developers, consultants, councils, government agencies and project owners
• Identify future opportunities before formal procurement
• Influence project positioning and early contractor engagement opportunities
• Support bid strategy, pursuit planning and bid/no-bid decisions
• Work with estimating and delivery teams on methodology, capability and project alignment
• Maintain qualified pipeline and market intelligence
• Support commercial discussions and strategic client engagement

About You

You will bring proven civil construction experience and an understanding of what successful project delivery actually looks like.

You are likely to have:

  • 15+ years civil construction experience
  • Exposure to project delivery, estimating, pre-contracts or operations
  • Strong understanding of roads, subdivisions, drainage, structures and earthworks
  • Existing relationships across Queensland civil markets
  • Commercial understanding of risk, margin and delivery capability
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and build trust

What’s On Offer

• Executive-level exposure and influence
• Strong existing delivery capability behind you
• Genuine growth pathway
• Competitive senior package
• Long-term strategic opportunity with a respected Queensland contractor
