Senior Civil Estimator

Help Shape the Projects. Influence the Outcomes.

Brisbane | $250K-$265K Package

  • Influence methodology, commercial strategy and bid outcomes—not just prepare estimates.
  • Diverse civil infrastructure projects across Queensland valued from $5M-$40M.
  • Join a growing Queensland civil contractor where experienced estimators are trusted to make decisions.

Good estimators don't just produce numbers.

They see the risks others miss.

They challenge methodology.

They understand how projects are actually built.

And they help win the work that drives a business forward.

If that's how you approach estimating, we'd like to talk.

We're partnering exclusively with a respected Queensland civil contractor that has built a strong reputation for delivering quality infrastructure projects through practical leadership, strong client relationships and a commitment to doing things properly.

As the business continues to grow, they're looking to appoint an experienced Senior Civil Estimator to play a key role within their established pre-contracts function.

Not simply to prepare estimates.

But to influence how projects are planned, priced and ultimately won.

Why this opportunity is different

Every contractor talks about culture.

What matters is whether your experience is genuinely respected.

Here, estimating isn't viewed as a support function sitting quietly in the background.

It's recognised as one of the key drivers of the business.

You'll work directly with experienced operational and commercial leaders who understand that successful projects begin long before construction starts.

If you identify a smarter construction methodology...

A better staging sequence...

Or a commercial risk that others have overlooked...

You'll be encouraged to challenge it.

Because that's exactly why they've hired you.

The Opportunity

Working alongside an experienced leadership team, you'll lead tenders across a diverse portfolio of Queensland civil infrastructure projects valued between $5M and $40M.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing detailed first-principles estimates
  • Developing construction methodologies and staging strategies
  • Managing subcontractor and supplier pricing
  • Procurement planning and market engagement
  • Identifying commercial risks and value engineering opportunities
  • Supporting bid strategy and tender submissions
  • Mentoring and supporting developing estimators within the team

This is a genuine opportunity to influence how projects are won—not simply prepare another tender before deadline.

About You

You'll already have a strong background within a civil contracting environment and understand what separates a competitive tender from one that simply looks good on paper.

You'll bring experience across:

  • First-principles estimating
  • Civil infrastructure projects
  • Roads, earthworks, drainage, structures or pavements
  • DTMR and Local Government projects (highly regarded)
  • Construction methodology and commercial risk
  • Expert Estimation or similar estimating software

Most importantly, you're someone who enjoys solving construction problems before they become construction issues.

Why Make the Move?

This is an opportunity to join a contractor that's continuing to invest in its people, systems and long-term growth.

You'll enjoy:

  • A leadership team that values practical thinking and honest conversations.
  • The opportunity to influence commercial strategy—not simply prepare estimates.
  • A collaborative pre-contracts environment where your ideas carry weight.
  • Long-term career growth within a business that's building for the future.

Let's Have a Conversation

Senior Civil Estimators rarely spend long on the market.

Most aren't actively looking.

They're simply waiting for the right opportunity.

If you're curious about what this role could offer, I'd be happy to give you an honest overview of the business, the projects and the leadership team.

No sales pitch.

No pressure.

Just a confidential conversation to help you decide whether it's worth exploring further.

Civil Estimator | Transition from Project Engineering

Step off site. Stay in construction. Build a career in estimating.

You've spent years delivering major civil infrastructure.

Roads. Bridges. Bulk earthworks. Utilities. Transport projects.

You understand how projects are built, how programmes succeed, and where things can go wrong.

Now imagine using that experience before construction even begins.

We're partnering exclusively with one of Queensland's leading civil contractors to appoint a Civil Estimator. This role has been designed specifically for a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer looking to transition into estimating and pre-contracts, with mentoring from an experienced team.

No previous estimating experience? That's okay.

If you've built the work, we'll help you price it.

Why You'll Love This Role

✔ Career pathway from Project Engineering into Estimating

✔ $160K Base + Super + Vehicle Allowance

✔ Structured mentoring from experienced Estimators

✔ Major infrastructure projects valued from $30M–$400M

✔ Award-winning contractor with an outstanding culture

✔ Long-term career growth in a high-demand discipline

What You'll Be Doing

Working alongside the Lead Estimator and the National Estimating Manager, you'll help develop winning tenders across major infrastructure projects throughout Queensland and New South Wales.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Construction methodologies and staging strategies
  • Reviewing drawings and specifications
  • Subcontractor and supplier pricing
  • Procurement planning
  • Risk and opportunity assessments
  • Tender strategy and commercial support

With experience delivering projects such as:

  • TMR / Main Roads
  • Roads & Highways
  • Bulk Earthworks
  • Bridges & Structures
  • Drainage & Utilities
  • Major Civil Projects

You don't need to know how to estimate.

You do need to understand construction.

Why This Company?

This isn't a business looking for a ready-made estimator.

They're looking for someone with practical engineering experience who wants to build a long-term career in pre-contracts.

You'll join a collaborative team that values mentoring, trusts your judgement, and invests in your development from day one.

Ready for Your Next Challenge?

The best estimators aren't always career estimators.

Many started exactly where you are today.

Don't worry if this role doesn't perfectly align with your expertise! We'd still love to hear from you, as many of our career opportunities are not advertised. Connect with us to explore what hidden roles we can offer you before they hit the open job market.

Brisbane | Executive-Level Influence | Project Opportunity & Market Strategy

This is not a traditional sales or account management role.

We are partnering exclusively with a respected Queensland civil contractor to appoint a Business Development Manager who understands how civil projects are actually won — long before the tender lands.

This role is built for someone with genuine contractor-side or client-side civil construction experience who can build relationships, identify opportunities early, and help shape where the business competes.

You might currently be a:

• Civil Project Manager
• Construction Manager
• Civil Manager
• Pre-Contracts Manager
• Client-side Development Manager
• Commercial or Operations Leader

If you’ve built credibility across Queensland’s civil market and enjoy influencing opportunities at the front end of projects — this could be your next move.

About the Business

Our client is a well-established Brisbane civil contractor delivering work across:

• Land development & subdivisions
• Roadworks (TMR / Council)
• Bulk earthworks

With strong delivery capability already in place, they are now investing in strengthening project pipeline, market engagement and strategic growth.

The Opportunity

You’ll work closely with delivery and estimating teams to decide:

• Which projects align with capability and margin
• Where to invest pursuit effort
• Which opportunities to pursue or walk away from
• How projects should be positioned before tender

This is a market-facing role — but grounded in technical and commercial construction knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and strengthen relationships across developers, consultants, councils, government agencies and project owners
• Identify future opportunities before formal procurement
• Influence project positioning and early contractor engagement opportunities
• Support bid strategy, pursuit planning and bid/no-bid decisions
• Work with estimating and delivery teams on methodology, capability and project alignment
• Maintain qualified pipeline and market intelligence
• Support commercial discussions and strategic client engagement

About You

You will bring proven civil construction experience and an understanding of what successful project delivery actually looks like.

You are likely to have:

• Strong existing delivery capability behind you
• Genuine growth pathway
• Competitive senior package
