You already know how to estimate subdivisions.

The question is whether your current role gives you enough influence over what gets tendered, how construction methodology is developed, how risk is treated and how the project is ultimately handed over for delivery.

We are partnering with an established civil contractor seeking a Senior Civil Estimator with genuine, contractor-side subdivision experience.

This is not a role where you will simply receive drawings, complete a take-off and produce a number.

You will take ownership of tenders from initial review through pricing, client clarification, submission and project handover. You will work closely with operational teams to develop buildable methodologies, identify commercial risk and ensure every estimate reflects how the project will actually be delivered.

The Role

You will lead the preparation of detailed first-principles estimates across:

• Bulk earthworks and site preparation
• Stormwater drainage
• Sewer and water infrastructure
• Underground utilities and services
• Roadworks, kerb and channel
• Pavements and associated civil works

Your responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation for scope gaps, risk and opportunity
• Preparing detailed quantity take-offs and first-principles estimates
• Developing construction methodologies with operational teams
• Sourcing and assessing subcontractor and supplier pricing
• Attending site inspections, tender meetings and client clarifications
• Preparing tender recommendations, assumptions, exclusions and commercial risk positions
• Leading a thorough handover to project teams across scope, quantities, methodology, risks and opportunities

What You Will Bring

You must have proven estimating experience gained specifically within a civil subdivision contractor.

You will also bring:

• Strong knowledge of residential, industrial or master-planned subdivision construction
• A detailed understanding of bulk earthworks, drainage, utilities, services, roads and pavements
• Demonstrated first-principles estimating and quantity take-off capability
• The ability to challenge methodology, identify missing scope and protect commercial outcomes
• Confidence communicating with clients, consultants, subcontractors and delivery teams
• Strong analytical, planning and commercial decision-making skills
• Civil Engineering or related qualifications will be highly regarded

Civil Estimator | PE / SPE Pathway into Pre-Contracts

Are you a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer who understands how civil projects are actually built, but you’re ready for a new direction?

The role

Working with the Lead Estimator and pre-contracts team, you’ll help prepare tenders for civil infrastructure projects across Queensland.

You’ll be involved in first-principles estimating, construction methodologies, subcontractor and supplier pricing, procurement planning, risk reviews and tender strategy.

Your site experience will be valued, particularly when assessing constructability, staging, temporary works, traffic management, sequencing, productivity and delivery constraints.

What we’re looking for

• PE or SPE background with civil contractor experience
• Strong site delivery experience across public infrastructure or major civil works
• Exposure to TMR / Main Roads projects highly regarded
• Experience across roadworks, earthworks, drainage, pavements, structures, subdivisions or water infrastructure
• Ability to read drawings, interpret specs and identify risks or scope gaps
• Commercial awareness and strong attention to detail
• Genuine interest in building a long-term career in estimating and pre-contracts
• Willingness to learn Expert Estimation Genesis
